10km walk in memory of motor neurone disease victim Andrew Grantham

A 10km walk from Pinchbeck, around Spalding and back was the latest event in tribute to Spalding man Andrew Grantham.

His family tirelessly work to raise funds for the MND Association thanks to the support it offered Andrew throughout his battle with the disease.
The group hopes to raise awareness of the disease as well as receiving donations to support the charity.

For Andrew, motor neurone disease struck at the prime of his life and from his diagnosis in early 2013 it affected the function of his body’s muscles, causing them to deteriorate rapidly. Initially he lost the use of his arms and legs until eventually, only 18 months later, Andrew lost his fight.
The walk took them through Ayscoughfee Gardens and Springfields, before returning to Morrisons several hours later.

Meanwhile, throughout the morning there was a tombola running at the supermarket.
The day raised £632.69 which will be given to the MND Association through a tribute page set up in Andrew’s name.
