You’re having a laugh! (in Spalding…and feeling better for it)

With the festive season a fading memory, your credit card bill on the horizon but your summer holiday not, you could be forgiven for finding little to laugh about this month.

But help is at hand in the form of a one-hour laughter yoga and mindfulness session in Spalding on Monday.(January 16)

Holistic therapist Linda Nightingale (pictured) is a Laughter Yoga leader and her Banish Your Blues, Zap Your Stress and Unharness Your Happy session could be just what some people need to beat the January blues.

Laughter Association UK was launched this month to bring together a list of certified laughter teachers and facilitators, most of which are running laughter clubs, laughter training, laughter workshops, and other laughter-based events.

The association says: “‘Why do we need to learn to laugh?’ you might ask.
“People normally laugh for three to five seconds at a time, but the benefits of laughter are gained when we increase this to ten to 15 minutes. This allows the body to take in more oxygen and to release the stale air in our lungs, giving our internal organs a mini workout in the process. When we laugh we feel good, we release endorphins (happy hormones) rushing around our body and the laughter rubs off on to others.”

Linda’s session is at The Pennygate Foundation, 204 Pennygate (PE11 1LT) from 11am until noon. Cost is £5 per person, which includes tea or coffee. Ring Linda on 01778 422469 or 07849 776045 to book or for any details.
