Youngster Panditharathna is star man

Performance of the week came for Long Sutton in the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League.

A mixed Colts side of last-minute call-ups and youngsters romped to a 91-run win at Grimston Lions led by a player making his senior debut.

Youngster Senithu Panditharathna took an incredible five wickets for 21 runs from his six overs to mark his debut in style.

Batting first, Sutton made 188 with Steven Milnes retiring not out on 51 and Ed Blundy-Gent making 29 on his first appearance for Sutton. Tim Norris ended unbeaten on 41.

Noah Warnes (2-27) took two quick wickets and Alice Blundy-Gent (1-35) followed suit with one of her own before Panditharathna took centre stage to become one of the club’s youngest ‘five-fers’. Captain James Baker
(2-14) cleaned up the tail as the hosts were shot out for 97.

Sutton’s Saturday second XI had an unexpected day off when their South Lincs Border League Division One opponents Boston Seconds conceded their match.
