Carter’s Park will play host to a charity football fixture that aims to raise money for Children With Cancer UK this Sunday.
Organised by Rob Green – who fought off cancer 18 years ago when aged 11 – the fixture at the home of Holbeach United gets under way at 1.30am.
Entry to the game is just £2, with under-16s able to attend for free.
There will be food after the clash and drinks will be available at the bar.
All players taking part, including Holbeach lad Jack Keeble who used to play for Grimsby Town, have paid £10 to take part in the match.
There will also be a special guest appearance from popular Peterborough United mascot Peter Burrow.
Green, who is also running next year’s London Marathon in a bid to raise £2,000, said on his Virgin moneygiving page: “I know the heartache and pain my family went through when I was an 11-year-old boy.
“No child or family should face cancer alone. Every penny makes a huge difference to Children With Cancer UK.
“My thanks also go to Holbeach United’s Des Ford, Tim Cole and Alan “Lefty” Wright for helping sort out a trophy, the pitch and match officials.”
