Chimney sweep Neil Wade had to climb a garden fence to avoid a swarm of bees.

He was working in Tongue End at around midday on Tuesday when the bees suddenly descended on a customer’s car.

Neil, of Spalding, said: “I’ve never seen anything like it. They just all appeared on this car and the fence next to it in the space of five minutes.

“We were a bit trapped so the customer made us a cup of tea while we waited for them to disperse. In the end we climbed over a fence and walked around the estate to get to the van!”

He added: “I think they were from a nest in a neighbour’s chimney.
“They were definitely attracted to the car being yellow.

“I guess that’s just what happens when the queen goes for a look around – the rest follow!”
