Work up a head of steam on Teddy Express

teddy1If you head down to Nene Valley Railway you’re sure of a big surprise.

For every bear that ever there was … loves steam trains apparently and on July 5 and 6 Nene Valley Railway is hosting a Teddy Bears’ Picnic weekend.

Children are invited to take along their favourite teddy and jump aboard the steam-hauled Teddy Express for a special outing.

All children who take their teddy along will travel for free.

During the weekend there will also be the chance to enjoy the fun of the fair at Fergie’s Fete and to take a ride behind Fergie the Tractor.

Wansford Café will also be open for all those teddy bears’ picnic meals, snacks and ice creams.

There’s also the perfect spot to tuck into your treats at the riverside picnic area in Wansford.

Trains start running at 10am from Wansford or join at any of the stations along the line.

Prices for the special steam train ride are £16 for adults or £8 for children who do not take along their teddy bear.

Seniors travel for £13 and family tickets cost £40.

Nene Valley Railway, which is home to Thomas the Tank Engine, is located near Peterborough and parking is free.

Many special events are held throughout the year.
