Work begins to move local DWP staff to council offices

Work to move the Jobcentre Plus into South Holland District Council (SHDC) Spalding offices has begun.

On Monday (January 15) developer Lindum Group Peterborough Ltd began the reworking of the ground floor of the Priory Road base to also house staff from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The work is due to be completed by March with DWP staff due to move from its current office at Broadgate House in Westlode Street.SHDC deputy leader Coun Malcolm Chandler said: “I am delighted we are underway with a project which will offer residents an increased offer of public services in one place.

“Together with a wider range of services under one roof, the income from DWP will help the council reduce its overheads for the running costs and maintenance of the building.

“It will also strengthen our position in south Lincolnshire while we continue to talk to other key partners who would wish to deliver services from our Priory Road offices.”
