A group of children at Spalding Parish C of E Primary School have been working with Wombles.
You may have seen some pupils join the Wombles of Spalding Common on their float for the Spalding Flower Parade last month.
And some of the volunteers have been going into school to teach the pupils about the importance of looking after the community they live in.
Peter and Sandra Bird plus Sam Dale, who regularly give their time as volunteers to help the area look better, helped out with Year Four pupils’ project What Can We See From Our Windows?
A spokesman for the school said: “The children had lots of questions for their visitors and were fascinated to hear of all the amazing work they carry out in their local community.”
Year Six pupils took part in the Flower Parade after studying it as part of their geography curriculum.
“To be a part of the parade itself was very special indeed and enable their learning to come to life,” the spokesman continued. “It was such a privilege for the children, who volunteered, to join the parade with the Wombles who do an incredible job of keeping our town tidy.
“The cheers and appreciation for the work they do was electric.
“It was a fabulous experience and enabled the children to make a difference to their town as they walked together.
“Such important messages of community, working together and making a difference were experienced.
“The children and staff would like to thank all the Wombles for the opportunity and the great examples they set.”
