Woman rescued after car plunges into river

Passers-by rushed to rescue a woman from her car after it plunged into the River Welland in Spalding.

The 35-year-old driver was checked over by an ambulance crew at the scene but was unhurt in the accident, which happened at about 8.50pm yesterday (Tuesday).

It is believed the woman’s blue Vauxhall Corsa had been pulling out of Haverfield Road just prior to the accident, but for some reason the car continued straight over London Road and into the water.

Police have said no one else was involved in the incident and there were no other injuries or damage.
