Police are appealing for witnesses after a 28-year-old woman died in a road accident on the A16 between Spalding and Cowbit.
Two others were seriously injured in the crash which involved a blue Renault Twingo and a black BMW at 11.30pm on Friday, August 30.
Lincolnshire Police said that the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was travelling in the Renault.
She’s been named locally as Shinead Francis, of Peterborough.
Two air ambulances were in attendance.
A spokesman for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance said: “The initial 999 call requested our attendance at a location in the Spalding area. Arriving at the scene, it was determined that our doctor and paramedic did not need to provide critical intervention and the patient was assisted by a neighbouring air ambulance.
“Our crew and helicopter cleared the scene and returned to base ready to respond to the next call.”
The A16 was closed for a number of hours following the incident as officers investigated.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “The female driver of a blue Renault Twingo, aged in her 20s, was sadly pronounced dead as a result of the incident. Her family have been made aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“Another man and a woman, who were occupants of a black BMW 325D M Sport, were seriously injured in the collision and have been taken to hospital for treatment.
“Investigators are now appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers and who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
“Additionally, if you have any information or have dashcam that may have recorded the incident, contact DS Kate Johnston by emailing [email protected]”
