Jury told of shop manager’s alleged sexual assaults

A shop manager from Spalding has gone on trial  at Lincoln Crown Court accused of sexually assaulting four women.

Mohamed Alam, 40, of St Thomas Road, Spalding, denies 14 charges of sexual assault, two counts of causing a female person to engage in sexual activity without consent and one incident of exposure.

All the offences are alleged to have occurred between October 2020 and September 2022.

Jurors heard evidence from one of the women who claimed Mr Alam touched her bottom three or four times, and on other occasions grabbed her waist and tried to sniff her neck.

Mr Alam denied ever touching the woman in a sexual way.

Another woman described how Mr Alam made her feel “very uncomfortable” by talking about her sex life and grabbed her bottom two or three times “for sure.”

“I didn’t do anything to encourage him,” she explained.

Another alleged victim claimed Mr Alam put both of his hands on her bottom.

“I turned round and said ‘What are you doing’? He said ‘nothing..”

The woman said Mr Alam also asked about her sex life and mentioned the book ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’

Mr Alam denied ever talking about the book.

Another woman alleged Mr Alam tried to show her sexy clothing on his phone and dropped his trousers in front of her.

“I had done nothing to encourage him to expose himself,” the woman claimed.

The woman denied a defence suggestion that she was a ringleader in bringing false complaints against Mr Alam.

The trial continues.
