Will you make summer special?

Lincolnshire Police is looking for people to join the Special Constabulary.

Those looking to make a difference in their community, learn new skills and face new challenges should apply, according to the recruitment drive.

Members of the Special Constabulary have the same powers as a regular police officer, wear the same uniform and receive initial and continuous training. The requested commitment is at least four hours a week.

For this summer’s intake, applications close on Sunday, February 18 and interviews will take place on Saturday, March 3.

Successful recruits will then begin their first weekend of training with a two-day induction, starting June 30.

Training will then be two weekends a month until November.

The Lincolnshire Police website has a list of eligibility conditions, including age (18+), residency (applicants must have lived in the UK for the past three years), previous convictions (violence, dishonest, drugs and serious driving offences are automatic excluders).

BNP members are also exempt.
