Energy and commitment paid off for Holbeach United as they bounced back from a midweek defeat to win 2-1 at home to Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers on Saturday.
The Tigers conceded two late goals in the fog at Carter’s Park against Wroxham Reserves on Wednesday to go down 2-0 in their Eastern Counties League Division One North encounter.
However, manager Callum Lawe was upbeat and said: “Despite the result, the performance showed many positives.
“The team played with energy, bravery and attacking intent.
“It was one of those games where the outcome could easily have been different.
“Wroxham would have struggled to argue if we had taken something from the match.
“We hit the bar, forced the goalkeeper into several excellent saves and also had a goal disallowed.
Ahead of Saturday’s match he added: “It was an exciting performance and we want to bring that same energy and commitment, but this time convert it into points.”
Sure enough, he was right after sticking with the same starting XI.
Harry West and Callum Wright scored to earn a 2-1 half-time advantage and they held on for all three points, despite the second-half dismissal of Jordan Oldham.
