A 25-year-old nursing assistant has warned others after she was attacked by two men as she walked home from work in Gosberton.
Jessica North thought nothing of it when she saw the men walking towards her on Salem Street until they blocked her way and wouldn’t let her pass.
She said: “I was trapped between back-to-back parked cars and a wall so I decided to barge past one of them, which was when one of the men grabbed me by my throat aggressively and pushed me against the wall.
“The men were talking to each other in a different language. I have no idea what they were saying to each other.”
It was only when a car rounded the corner that Jessica was released and the men ran off.
She said: “I ran the opposite way to them to my home. I didn’t look back to see if the car had stopped or the men were following me, I just wanted to get home.
“When I got home I banged on the front door as I was shaking too much to find my keys. I couldn’t speak for five minutes to explain what had happened.”
The attack happened at 9.15pm on Wednesday, September 21.
Jessica, who works at Gosberton House Care Home and lives in Mill Lane, said: “It takes me five minutes or less to walk to work and now this has happened I feel I have to drive to work for my own safety, or anywhere else I want to go for that matter.
“Gosberton is such a small, quiet village no one expected this to happen and everyone is very shocked, myself included.
“There are a few girls I work with who also walk to and from work and they now also feel scared to walk home on their own and have since been arranging lifts to and from work.
“It has left me very shaken and wondering what could have happened to me if that car didn’t come round the corner.
“I was very lucky to get away and only have a sore neck and back from the whole incident. It worries me now that they are still able to carry on and possibly do it to others.”
Jessica reported the incident to police and her partner Steve Thorold has been into the local shop and pub to warn them about what happened.
The men both wore dark clothing and hoodies, were in their late 20s or early 30s, of average build and around 5ft 5ins. One wore glasses and both had their hoods up.
A Lincolnshire police spokesman said the incident is being treated as common assault and inquiries are ongoing.
