War memorial gets a spring clean

Holbeach’s War Memorial has been given a spring clean.

The Holbeach Memorial Company has carried out the work on behalf of Holbeach Parish Council.
A spokesman for the parish Council said: “The memorial, featuring a Cornish granite Celtic cross mounted on a cubic base with two steps, now stands proudly, restored to its original state.
“On the cross shaft, a crusader’s sword is beautifully rendered in relief, while the inscription on the base is incised and highlighted in black.
“At the front of the bottom step, a flower holder bearing the years of the First and Second World Wars has been meticulously restored.
“Holbeach Parish Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Holbeach Memorial Company for their magnificent work in restoring the war memorial.
Their dedication and craftsmanship has ensured that this important piece of our heritage continues to honour the memories of those who served.
“Looking ahead, the remaining areas around the memorial will undergo further work throughout the year.”
