After weeks of wet and windy weather, finally there was a nicer day for the Spalding Cycling Club
ten-mile time trial.
It was the once-a-year special for the two-up championship. Riders take to the Barrier Bank course in pairs and work together to achieve the best possible time.
Victory went to defending champions Frazer and Josh Wallis. Josh, on a borrowed time trial bike, combined with his dad to come home with a time of 21 minutes 31 seconds.
Hot on their wheels was the pair of Matt Chappell and Kieran Buffham, with arguably the ride of the night.
Buffham was again on his trusty road bike instead of a time trial rig and a sterling effort saw the in-form pair finish in 21:57.
The ever-improving duo of Dan Warner and Gareth Richards rounded out the podium in 23:34.
The men’s and women’s current championship leaders, Dominic and Evgeniya Righini-Brand, combined for fourth place with a strong 23:40, pushing Warner and Richards all the way.
Club chairman Andy Bowser made his first showing of the year, combining with Audax master Tom Drew, to finish in 24:32, ahead of father and daughter pairing Chris and Scarlett Ward, 31:45.
