Walk to highlight wild medicine

To celebrate Herbal Medicinal Week a group set up to promote the medicinal qualities of plants is running a special riverside walk this weekend in Spalding.

The Fenland Natural Health Group is hosting the Wild Medicine River Walk which leaves Ayscoughee Hall at 2.30pm on Sunday, June 24.

The mile long walk which last roughly an hour is one of a series of events hosted by groups that are members of the National Institute of Medicinal Herbalists.

A spokesman for Fenland Natural Health, said: “We will be walking along the Welland riverside footpaths investigating its banks and uncovering the medicinal plants that grow here.

“We will be highlighting plants that have medicinal value, teaching how to identify them, and discussing the health benefits of each.”

The cost is £5 per person and £3 for children, who will receive a herbal bingo sheet.
