Pupils at a Spalding school need your votes to help them achieve their dream playground.
The Priory Special School supports pupils aged from 11 to 16 years old with a range of needs.
Votes are needed for the Tesco Bags of Help initiative as the school is one of three on the latest shortlist.
The playground is used by 130 pupils and only has two free-standing netball hoops and some old markings.
“Daily we have incidents with children wanting to play ball games while others prefer to play other games. This cross-over causes a lot of issues. The problem is highlighted when our field is out of bounds in wet weather,” said Barrie Taylor, head of site.
A year ago the school applied to the National Lottery for money towards a specific ball play area to leave the main playground free for other activities. The lottery awarded £9,625 which bought two Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) boards.
“We were thrilled to receive the lottery money last year and we are now fully focused on completing this project so that the pupils can enjoy a safer, fully enclosed sport court,” added Mr Taylor.
“We are asking those who visit any of the three Tesco stores to pop your blue tokens into The Priory School Project.”
The participating stores are Tesco Express, Matmore Gate, Spalding; North Street, Bourne and Tesco Superstore on Cherry Holt Road.
“Bags of Help has been a fantastic success and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response from customers. It is such a special scheme because it’s local people who decide how the money will be spent in their community. There are some fantastic projects on the shortlists,” said Alec Brown, head of community at Tesco.
