Volunteers sought for car service

More volunteers are being sought for a group that helps transport people around the district.

The South Holland Parish Voluntary Car Service provides transport for patients who need to attend health and social care appointments who can’t otherwise get there.

Anyone interested can attend the group’s AGM at South Holland District Council’s Priory Road offices at 6.30pm on Thursday, July 31.

A spokesman for the group said: “If any members of the public wish to attend they are more than welcome.

“Existing drivers and volunteers always welcome.

“We take patients to all local GP surgeries, dentist and opticians as well as further afield such as Papworth, Addenbrookes, Nottingham and Leicester hospitals and even further if necessary.

“There is a small charge for the service as this is subsidised by the area’s parish councils.

“We are always on the look out for new volunteers, in particular drivers, so if you have a few hours a week to spare or even a couple of days then why not get in touch.”
