Village community building burgled

A charity’s community hub in Surfleet was burgled over the weekend.

Tonic 44 at Station Road, part of the Tonic Health group the specialises in health and welbeing, was burgled between 1.30pm and 8.40am on Saturday, October 26, police said, adding bottles of beer were stolen.

A pane of glass was broken in the door to gain entry and items of food taken along with some Makita power tools.

Michael Morris, Chair of Trustees for Tonic Health spoke of his sadness at discovering the break-in on Sunday morning.

He said: “The main feeling when you discover something like this has happened is one of disappointment as people do not think about the consequences of their actions – by creating this havoc, they are taking away resources from people we are trying so hard to support with the charity and the cafe.”

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting incident 149 of 27/10.

Tonic Health has this month launched a free pottery class for carers of people with dementia. Care is provided at the Greenfield Pottery-run class at Saracen’s Head Village Hall every third Monday.

Call 01775 725059 to book a spot as spaces are limited to eight per session.
