Vicky dares to shave hair

A Surfleet woman will dare to have no hair in a bid to give something back to the charities that have changed her life.

Vicky Smith (28) has pledged to shave her head once she reaches a sponsorship total of £300.

She said: “I have decided to give something back to organisations that have changed my life for the better.

“The organisations I have chosen to support are Mind, Central German Shepherd Rescue (CGSR) and Spalding Cats Protection. Each of these are extremely close to my heart.

“Having had a mental illness since my early 20s, MInd have been there to guide and support me through some really difficult times, when I felt completely lost and alone they made me realise I have something to offer the world and that I matter as a person.

“I was lucky enough to adopt a gorgeous rescue German Shepherd cross puppy from CGSR called Jodie.

“She has completely changed my life. She encourages me daily to get out of the house and face the world and she never judges me. For someone with a mental illness this is an extremely valued thing to have.

“When I feel I can’t go on she brings light back into my life.

“I was lucky enough to deal with Spalding Cats Protection when I adopted my cat Mia.

“Just like Jodie she gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning and constantly reminds me I am not alone. Her consistent love and loyalty makes my life so much better.

“To some these organisations may not seem important but they mean the world to me. I will never be able to fully repay them for what they have done for me.

“I have very low self esteem so losing my hair is a big thing for me.

“Please dig deep, anything you can give will be greatly received.”
