The vicar of Spalding Parish Church is using this month of remembrance to spread a message of reflection and hope for the future after two years which have seen six violent deaths in the town.
The inquest into the shootings deaths of Lance, Claire and Charlotte Hart in July was held last week. And two 15-year-olds will be sentenced on Thursday, November 10 for murdering Liz Edwards and her youngest daughter Katie in April. Dad-of-two Warren Free died in August 2014 after being beaten up by a group of youths.
The Rev John Bennett said November brings remembrance, a time for thinking back and for looking forward with hope.
He added: “The impact of the violent deaths in our town over the last two years has been felt by all who have read and heard about them.
“Spalding has grown rapidly in recent years but it remains a strong community. People care about the life that we share together and contribute in the work we do as volunteers, as good neighbours and in the variety of ways that we are prepared to put ourselves out to help one another without expecting anything in return.
“The Spalding Voice shows us that these things are happening all the time and this is the truer picture of life in Spalding.
“Let’s pray that it will be a long time before anything as tragic occurs in our town again, remember how much goodness and kindness there is around us and do what we can to add to it.”
