Veteran’s St George’s breakfast

Veterans marked St George’s Day last week with their monthly breakfast.

To mark the patron saint of England the group descended on Country Kitchen last Thursday, April 23.

Owner Kelly Newman had decked out the Wardentree Lane eatery in flags and memorabilia especially for the occasion.

Fr Robert Parker-Mcgee was in attendance and he spoke to the gathering about St George as well as saying Grace before the meal.

Staff from the RAF Benevolent Fund also attended and gave a speech about their work.

Organiser Jan Whitbourn said: “We had wonderful food and the staff really looked after us.

“They helped with putting up flags table cloths etc to make the morning poignant.

“They made everyone so welcome and we all enjoyed the morning.”
