The Sir Halley Stewart has been by vandals and stock taken from the bar ahead of Spalding United’s fixture tomorrow (Saturday).
The volunteers that run the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midlands Division club found the damage this morning when arriving to prepare for the fixture against Yaxley.
Windows were broken and furniture turned upside down at the South Holland District Council owned building overnight last night (Thursday).
Tulips CEO Leigh Porter said: “It was one of the volunteers that discovered the damage this morning when they went down to prepare for tomorrow’s game.
“He could see straight away see there was broken glass everywhere with the chairs and tables thrown all over the place.
“We’ve also found that everything that wasn’t locked down has been taken, which is quite a few bottles of spirits.
“It all probably costs us a couple of hundred pounds, but it’s not the cost that’s the issue, it’s the inconviencne
“It’s a group of volunteers who give their time and effort to help run the club. They already do an absolutely spectacular job and this kind of mindless vandalism just puts extra pressures on them.
“It’s difficult enough as it is to run a non-league football club without having to do a substantial clean up on the eve of a game.
“I don’t think the people that do this thing know the effect it has.
“The response from the community has been fantastic though with plenty of best wishes and offers of help.”
Pinchbeck United also host home games at the Spalding town centre venue.
Spalding United face Yaxley in a 3pm kick off tomorrow. The Tulips are offering a free hot drink to those wishing to attend and kids are being granted free admission.
