Unseasonal tench help Borrett bag a victory at Tydd Gote Angling Club

The milder weather helped to spread the fish throughout the match length at Sunday’s Tydd Gote Angling Club match on the North Level at Main Road, making for an even contest.

Leading the way was Steve Borrett – who included an unseasonal tench of 4lb in his otherwise mixed bag of 11lb 3oz.

Dennis Houghton caught from the off and ended up with close to 70 fish for 9lb 9oz with Don Green’s lovely 8lb 9oz net of mainly seed tempted roach coming in third.

Archie Greenwood had problems balancing his balls of groundbait but still did enough for fourth with 7lb 13oz.

But the fish seem to be all the way through the stretch, with Colin Burton finding a trio of bream from peg 35 in a midweek session.

  • Wednesday Open results: 1st Mike Asker 10lb 0oz; 2nd John Taylor 9lb 14oz; 3rd Pete Emery 8lb 0oz.
