Under a month until festive party

The festive spirit arrives in Spalding on Saturday, November 26 for the town’s Christmas celebration

It’s set to include live entertainment, games, competitions, food, gifts, crafts and more.

Running from 11am till 5pm in Spalding town centre and organised by South Holland District Council, there will be a chance for visitors do their Christmas shopping with a great array of local market traders, alongside some additional festive-themed stalls selling gifts, crafts and tasty festive food.

There will also be plenty of activities and entertainment to take part in, with a pop-up vintage puppet show from renowned ‘Punch and Judy Inc’, a chance to meet and enjoy a performance from Elsa, and vintage carousel and swing boat rides available.

There will also be great live music throughout the event, a giant snow globe and a variety of street entertainment, including the cast of this year’s South Holland Centre pantomime – Cinderella – and Santa’s Helpers from Rhubarb Theatre Co.

The event will see the launch of the returning Nutcracker Trail, with Nutcracker Soldiers hiding in participating shops across the town centre. Shoppers will have until Christmas Eve to find them all.

There will also be a fancy dress competition taking place on the day, with the winner getting to turn on the beautiful Christmas tree lights at the end of carols by candlelight, which will cap off the festivities at 4.30pm.

Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: “I am delighted that we are again able to hold this celebration of festive fun, with a fantastic range of entertainment and activities on offer for everyone to enjoy.

“Hopefully it will also provide an opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done early, supporting our brilliant local businesses and market traders and possibly even winning a prize with our Nutcracker Trail. I look forward to seeing lots of people there on the day.”
