Unbeaten Moulton Harrox in good shape ahead of key clash with Netherton United

Red-hot Moulton Harrox go into this Saturday’s huge clash with perennial rivals Netherton United as unbeaten ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division leaders.

Harrox turned a 2-0 deficit at Leverington Sports into a 5-2 victory last weekend, making it ten wins from 11 league games for Kev Nottingham’s side.

Declan Earth (2), Keith England, Marcus Parry and Danny Maddison all put the ball in the net for Moulton – sending them seven points clear at the top of the division.

Defending champions Netherton are a further point back, but do have a game in hand, ahead of the Broad Lane showdown (2pm).

Harrox’s Stuart Manning is hoping that fans will turn out in numbers to take in the pick of the PDFL’s weekend fixtures.

He said: “We’ve had a great start to the season and have come through some very tough games.

“Finishing has been a bit of problem lately, but we came back from 2-0 down to get five on Saturday and steamrollered Leverington in the end.

“Netherton is always a big game and we’d have to see them as one of our main rivals for the title.

“Hopefully we can get the right result and extend our advantage.

“We’ll keep plugging away and it’d be nice to see a few more faces at the game on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Division One champions Moulton Harrox Reserves are looking for a new manager.

Player/boss John Ball has decided to step down from the role, so Harrox are seeking an enthusiastic candidate with the desire to bring in some new, young talent. Contact Stuart Manning on 07714 700940 if you’re interested.

  • Tydd romped to a 4-0 Premier Division win at Polonia on Saturday thanks to goals from Chris Ward (2), Kev Smith and new signing Aaron McKenna. They are sixth.

A Matthew Rose goal also fired Long Sutton Athletic to a 1-0 home success over ICA Sports to move them into the top ten.

Holbeach United Reserves, meanwhile, drew 0-0 at Peterborough Sports Development to stay in the top four.

But Sutton Bridge United went down 2-1 at Stamford Lions, despite a goal from Kurt Scott.

They are sitting in 11th position.
