Unbeaten Donington C in deadly form to race clear at top of Spalding Snooker League

Rampant Donington C stormed five points clear at the top of Spalding and District Snooker League Division One with a 6-0 success at Boundary A – making it eight wins from as many matches this season.

Ben Wrigglesworth (O14), Neil Favell (O14), Graham Slater (R14), Lee Hempsall (scr) and Matt Turner (O7) all won frames for the table-toppers, who are the only remaining unbeaten side across all three divisions.

A 22 clearance and 20 break from Wrigglesworth was the highlight for them on the Deepings baize.

Behind them, Holbeach edged out Pyramid B 4-2 to leapfrog the Bourne side into second place.

A stellar 53 break from Spencer Dawkins (O42) gave Pyramid the perfect start in frame one, but Holbeach hit back to win three of the next four. Bobby White (O21) starred for them with a 35 break.

Services A are now fourth, some seven points off top spot, having handed hosts Consti F a 4-2 home reverse.

Jon Bettinson (scr) and Pete Mullane (O21) reeled off breaks of 36 and 35 respectively to help steer Services to glory – with Bettinson’s coming in the decisive final frame.

Tulips B complete the top five – despite being thrashed 6-0 at Donington A.

A 29 break from Tony Scully (O21) put the exclamation point on the whitewash by making a 29 break in the final frame.

In Division Two, Consti G lost their grasp on top spot following a 6-0 beating at fourth-placed Holbeach B.

A top home showing was underlined by Neil Harvey’s (O14) 45 break and Ben Harding’s (O7) 22 clearance.

Long Sutton A are now two points ahead at the summit despite going down 4-2 at Services F.

Black-ball wins from Jack Chilvers (O28) and Oliver Turner (O28) proved key for the Spalding side.

Consti B stormed into third place with a super 6-0 triumph at Boundary C, despite cue ace Paul Spittlehouse (O56) pocketing a typical 42 break.

Fellow club side Consti H were also on fire last week as they gatecrashed the top five.

They put Gosberton A to the sword 5-1 – although Steve Mooney (O35) did make a 24 break.

In Division Three, pace-setters Consti A went four points clear by defeating Whittlesey B 5-1.

But the impressive individual displays came elsewhere.

Duane Atkinson (O21) sank a 37 break to help Bourne SC B win 4-2 at Consti J, with Darren Crosby (O35) also notching a 24.

Tanya Peel (R14) was another to impress as she made a 35 break for Services D at Consti E – but she was the sole winner and her team went down 5-1.

Meanwhile, Pyramid E beat Donington D 5-1 to move away from the bottom of the table, while Consti D collected only their second victory of the campaign. They beat Crowland A 4-2.
