A first-half penalty from striker Tony Edwards was enough to earn Pinchbeck United a battling 1-0 win at Leverington Sports on Saturday.
It’s now three wins and a draw from their last four ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division games for Ian Dunn’s side, who are now eighth – just four points off the top.
Pinchbeck were hampered by unavailability, with eight players missing.
But their chances were boosted when hosts Sports had a player sent off in the first half.
“It was an ugly game,” admitted boss Dunn. “But we asked for a clean sheet and a win before the game – and that’s what we got.
“We expected a tough game, it always is here.
“Sometimes, at this level, you’ve just got to dig in and win ugly.
“They perhaps should have had a few more players sent off and we wanted another penalty, but overall I’m happy.
“We’ll have all of our players back for the next game on Saturday – and hopefully a couple of important signings.”
Pinchbeck’s next clash is a home tussle with Keeton on Saturday (2pm).
