There’s been plenty of different lessons on offer for pupils at University Academy Holbeach recently.
The school held an Enrichment Week for pupils in Years Seven to 10.
The purpose of the week was to provide pupils opportunities to develop a range of life skills, and provide a broad range of experiences for them which are outside the usual curriculum.
Most pupils had the chance to go on a trip and a range different activities were put on in school.
Sam Graper, head of performing arts, said: “There was a vast range of events for pupils to participate in and it was really exciting to see the school buzzing with the enthusiastic atmosphere.”
These included first aid training, sessions on British Sign Language, a talk from the organisation Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and orienteering.
Theatre group Act II got involved putting on classes involving theatre and music.
As part of International Day, pupils also explored the language and culture of different countries while closer to home, Local Heritage Day involved learning about notable people from the area and designing flower parade floats.
There was also a Science Day, which included alien detection, parachute design and an Escape Room.
Pupils learned vital lessens as part of a Careers Day, with talks from international names and local companies
As well a day celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee, pupils went on trips to Burghley House, Hamerton Zoo, Lincoln Cathedral, Banham Zoo and the National Justice Museum.
Miss Graper said: “The whole event was extremely successful, with pupils clearly engaged in the different activities provided for them.
“They were required to draw on creativity, independence, resilience, curiosity and imagination. It is hoped that the memories that they made this week will stay with them for a long time.”
