Tydd St Giles Golf Club duo Day and Smith edge out rivals to seal win on seniors’ charity day

Tydd St Giles Golf Club’s Seniors Charity golf day attracted more then 80 participants.

The winners came from the home club, with Vinny Day and Lee Smith’s score of 44 points enough to edge out two other teams on countback.

Mel Tolfre and Mike Johnson (Wensum Valley GC) were second, with Eric Savage and Phil Jones (Ryston Park and Middleton GC) taking third.

Organiser Roy Pesterfield said: “I’d like to thank all for taking part in this very successful day.

“£500 was raised for the seniors’ charity, The Little Discoverer’s at King’s Lynn.

“Special thanks to Delia Sewell for the halfway house and her donation of £130 to the charity.”

Results: Overall winners – 1st Vinny Day & Lee Smith 44pts (ocb); 2nd Mel Tolfre & Mike Johnson 44pts (ocb); 3rd Eric Savage & Phil Jones 44pts; 4th Russell Doy & Gary Brown (Tydd). Nearest the pin: 4th hole – Cliff Latimer (Gedney Hill GC); 8th hole – Mark Athon (Marham GC); 11th hole – Mel Tolfree (Wensum Valley GC); 16th hole – Vinny Day (Tydd GC).
