Two top tennis trophies decided on super Sunday

Ian Argent and Hannah Willis lifted the Chairman’s Cup crown at Spalding Tennis Club on Sunday.

A mixed pairs event, games were played in the group stage before contesting quarter and semi-finals.

It came down to the pairs of Argent and Willis and Natasha Tooley and Haydn Bingham, with the former prevailing 3-1 and receiving the trophy from club chairman Carl Newell.

The next competition is the club men’s and ladies’ singles championship on Sunday, September 6.

* Also contested on Sunday was the Mary Burgess competition – an event for a mixed pair of parent and child (aged under-12).

Boasting 24 entrants, the eventual junior winners were Luke Orton and Jenna Mackman, who were presented with their prize by 84-year-old member Mary Burgess.
