A Take That tribute band, a live auction and a raffle helped to raise more than £3,000 at the Two Lips charity ball.

Held at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex and organised by the Rotary Club of Spalding, the event saw around 150 get their gladrags on and dance the night away.

Rotarian Alan Porter, who is chairman of the Two Lips fundraising committee, said: “Numbers were down a little on last year, but we still had a great night.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and although we haven’t got the final figures yet, it’s looking like we will have raised more than £3,000.”

Entertainment on the night was provided by Take That and Robbie Williams tribute acts, a disco, a raffle and a live auction, offering various lots including a signed England rugby shirt.

This is the third year that the Rotary Club has organised the Two Lips appeal, which sees various events taking place throughout the week, raising money for Rotary charities.

Other events included a charity night at Indus restaurant and a car wash organised by Pinchbeck Junior Football Club, which takes place at Homebase, Spalding, on Saturday.

The Johnston Hospital, Boots and Barclays Bank have also organised events.
