Twinning group is looking to boost the exchange rate

A South Holland twinning group is looking for more members to join their exchange programme.
The Friends of Sézanne have recently celebrated 58 years of making alternate annual visits to the French town and South Holland.
And, after taking their turn to host their French counterparts this year, the club are appealing for people to get involved.
Secretary Roy Ford explained: “We are a group of about 40-strong looking for new members to join us for our journey to Sézanne in August 2017.
“We usually depart on a Thursday, return on the following Monday, having enjoyed the experience of French hospitality for the weekend and returning the hospitality the following year.
“Families, couples and single persons of all ages are welcome.”
This year it was the turn of the French to visit – 58 years since the ‘Jumelage’ twinning began between Holbeach and Sézanne/Mondemont. It now embraces the width of South Holland, taking members from Long Sutton to Donington.
After spending the evening settling guests in with hosts, they set off the following day from Holbeach to Sandringham, visiting the house, garden and museum and enjoying lunch in the restaurant.
Local places of interest were visited the following day with Springfields Festival Gardens and Moulton Mill proving very popular.
The whole group enjoyed a superb gala dinner in the evening, prepared by some of the ladies, at Long Sutton.
This was followed by entertainment from the Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding, with a hint of French for the guests.
The final day was enjoyed with families. A walk around Ayscoughfee Hall and gardens again proved popular, with a visit to Spalding Gentlemen’s Society laid on during the afternoon.
Parties and socialising brought the curtain down on the trip before catching the coach home the following morning.
Mr Ford added: “We are already looking forward to August 2017 in Sézanne when old friendships will be renewed and new friends made.”
