Book yourself and your families into Libraries Week with Spalding Library among those hosting a number of events.
Libraries Week is the annual showcase of the best that UK libraries of all kinds have to offer.
In 2018, with a focus on wellbeing, libraries across Lincolnshire will showcase how they bring communities together, combat loneliness, provide a space for reading and creativity, and help people of all ages with their mental health and wellbeing.
Monday, October 8.
The events start with a Messy Play from 10.30am to 11am. Enjoy the creativity of messy play with your child without the mess in your house! Please wear old clothes.
Bookfolding Workshop from 1pm to 2.30pm – Join in the October Bookfolding workshop to create a sausage dog. £1 per person including all materials and refreshments.
Tuesday, October 8
Storytime from 2pm to 2.45pm – Stories and craft activities for preschool children, with a Pumpkin theme for the Spalding Pumpkin Festival week. Parents, grandparents and child minders welcome.
Wednesday, October 10
Book Club from 10am to 11am – What are you reading now? Bring your current read along to the new book club to discuss, make new friends and find that next good read. Refreshments provided. Everyone welcome.
lDEAR Time Reading Afternoon from 3pm to 4.30pm – Join a big Drop Everything And Read sessions at Spalding. Take a cushion, turn your devices off or to airplane mode if reading e-books, sit down and have a read to celebrate National Libraries Week. Refreshments available.
Thursday, October 11
Rhyme Thyme from 10.30am to 11pm – Join in the weekly Rhyme Time session for songs, rhymes and play, where you can meet other new parents and help your baby to learn and develop.
Lego Club from 3.30pm-5.30pm – Love Lego? Come and create something amazing at the weekly Lego Club sessions.
Looking After Your Well Being from 10am to 3pm – Information stand from Well Being Lincs will be available to visit during the day.
Friday, October 12
Knitting Corner from 10am to 12noon – Join the weekly Knitting Corner group where you will make new friends, have a cuppa and have a chat. All levels of skill are welcomed in this friendly group.
Pumpkin Crafts (and Saturday October 13) – Children’s craft table will be available from Friday afternoon to 12noon on Saturday for themed crafts as part of the Annual Spalding Pumpkin Festival.
Saturday, October 13
Writing Workshop —The Print Route Part Two, 10am to 12.15pm – Calling all Budding writers! Join local author Helen Gould for one of her excellent Saturday Writing Workshops. Suitable for age 16 and over. £5 per person.
Spalding Photographic Society’s latest exhibition of work is also up and available to see at the library until October 13.
