Pat Rayment has promised Spalding United fans that big signings are imminent ahead of their return to step four of the non-league ladder.

The Tulips chief has been talking to a number of big names and expects to announce exciting news in the coming weeks.

Rayment also revealed that key midfielders Chris Hall and Lewis Webb have agreed to stay, joining keeper Michael Duggan, skipper Jamie Stevens, defender Nathan Stainfield, top scorer Andrew Tidswell and striker Mark Jones in committing to the club for next season.

UCL Premier Division champions Spalding are also waiting for Jamie Thurlbourne, Ross Watson, Lee Beeson and Josh Ford to get back to them regarding offers to stay – but Adam Jackson has followed Dan Cotton out of the exit door.

Rayment also admitted that he expects Jonny Allen to leave the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

He said: “We’ve managed to tie down a lot of last year’s squad and are hoping for answers from the rest in the next few days. Dan and Adam leave with our blessing – and Jonny’s personal situation will also dictate that he’ll look to leave. We understand that.

“But we’ve been in contact with a number of really big names and we’ll have some exciting news to announce soon. The future is very bright.”
Meanwhile, the Tulips have confirmed a number of their pre-season fixtures.

They are: Saturday July 12 – Peterborough Sports (away); Tuesday, July 15 – Boston United (home); Saturday, July 19 – King’s Lynn Town (home); Thursday, July 24 – Yaxley (away); Saturday, August 2 – Huntingdon Town (home).
