Tulips clinch second

Spalding Netball Club ended their first-ever season in second place after a fine 34-19 success over Boston Boltz Sky last Thursday.

A close first quarter saw the Tulips boast a three-goal lead, before they upped their game and started to gain a big lead in the second.

Some great interceptions from the defence, coupled with some dynamic movement in attack, saw the Spalding girls move eight goals clear.

The Tulips fought admirably to maintain possession of the ball throughout the final two quarters.

Boltz looked set to launch a comeback at one point, but the South Holland side stood firm and eventually cruised to a 15-goal victory.

Molly Savage was named the Tulips’ players’ player of the match, while Maisie Tingle was the umpire’s pick.

The victory cemented second place in Division C of the Boston Netball League for Spalding, who finished three points behind winners Beta Belles.

The Tulips are now looking for players to join them ahead of the Winter League.

Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to join, with training every Thursday night at the Peter Paine Performance Centre (7-9pm).
