This weekend sees Tulipmania come to town – and there’s still time to get involved.
Tulip Radio is heavily involved in the event, which will see the crowning of the Tulipmania Prince and Princess who will lead a procession around the festival gardens.
Their big part will follow a photoshoot around the festival site.
So now the hunt is on to find the perfect Prince and Princess to take on the roles on Saturday.
Open to six to ten year olds, the competition will be held on the day in Springfields Arena.
The two winners will each receive a Raleigh bike, donated by Gibbons Cycles and Sports, of Spalding, and a £25 cash prize. and a framed print of a picture taken on the day courtesy of Rant Media (Spalding).
All entrants will receive a goody bag to take away.
Entrants are asked to wear a tulip-themed outfit – for instance a princess might wear a tulip trimmed dress and a prince a tulip tie.
Entry forms are available from Tulip Radio office in The Crescent, or email Jan Whitbourn on [email protected] and she will send a form to you along with all the entry details.
Each entrant will also receive one free pass into the Springfields Festival and Tulipmania event for an accompanying parent or adult.

During the event, adults can enjoy the flower displays in the gardens, browsing crafts, gift and other stalls, watching the procession (or taking part).
There will also be face-painters and music from local bands, as well as the Springfields restaurant and other refreshments.
Children have the chance to join the procession on Saturday, visit the “WHALE”, the petting farm (Saturday only), funfair rides, plus have their photos taken on the tulip covered dragon, lion and princess carriage floats as well as trying out the go-karts (Saturday only).
Then for everybody, on Sunday, more than 200 classic cars will be on display, as well as lots of other “action”.
The Tulipmania Festival has been organised by Springfields Horticultural Society in association with Tulip Radio to help celebrate South Holland’s tulip growing heritage and the unique event which was the Spalding Flower Parade.
David Norton, of Springfields Horticultural Society, said: “We want to make sure young people who feel they have not got time to decorate anything or create a costume can still get involved.
“There is no need to worry, come and enjoy the day and be part of Tulipmania. Better still, arrive by noon and take part in the Prince and Princess competition.
“If you are aged between five and ten and would like the chance to win a bike, this is the place to be. You can enter on the day.”
