TULIP TALK: A great night of ten pin bowling at AlleyCatz

Last month Spalding and District Chamber of Commerce held its second Christmas ten pin bowling evening at AlleyCatz.

An annual event that the town centre manager, Dennis decided to get recruiting for to make sure it was well attended with many local businesses, including Tom, Graham and the team at Hughes

Electrical, Pete and family from the Punchbowl and Tulip Radio being badgered for days to make an appearance.

Thank you boys for coming and taking part.

The top player on the evening was surprisingly enough Dennis himself, somewhat of a dark horse who took home a bottle of bubbly as the winner and it is now believed has done this before!

Despite valiant attempts it’s best perhaps to draw a discrete veil over the Tulip Radio effort but as they say, it’s the taking part not the winning that matters, and don’t you forget that boys.

Dennis narrowly pipped Harry Drury from We’ll Let Your House into second place with a most disappointed president, Phil Scarlett in third.

Phil fully expected that, after hours of anonymous practice, that he might have managed a little better!

It was noted however that Matt Clark, AlleyCatz owner, needs to get rather more practice in before next year’s competition to save his reputation as a sportsman!

I think he left early as his scores were not looking good!

It was good to see former president, Jason Rooke, from Rookes Pet Products, making a rare and unexpected appearance, as you can imagine at this time of the year time is of the essence, and there’s not a lot of time for folly!

All in all, this inaugural event was a very successful evening and it’s thanks to both the organisers as well as AlleyCatz for providing the venue.

The food and company was great, we don’t think this should be left to a yearly event, there are 365 days so another half yearly event could be welcomed on the calendar!
