Holbeach Town and Country Fayre takes place this weekend and one of the main attractions is the unique cabbage hurling competition.
This annual event is a coming together of the country summer show and a classic car and vehicle show.
Entertainment lined up for the main arena this year consists of:
- falconry display
- musical vehicles
- owl displays
- marching bands
- fun dog show
- an event that was thought to have died out years ago has been dusted down and updated – Tractor Wurlding (not to be missed!)
The car show will offer a chance to look around collectors’ vehicles including tractors and farm machinery, classic cars, custom cars and Hot Rods, military vehicles, commercial vehicles, steam engines, motorcycles and trikes and the humble bicycle.
Sunday sees the ever popular World Cabbage Hurling for over 18s and Onion Wanging contest for those aged 12 to 17 going on in the main arena, with teams of three required.
The fayre is on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 5pm each day on King’s field, off Fen Road, Holbeach.
Admission is £5 for adults with children under 16 going free with a paying adult. This is a dog friendly event but they must be kept on a lead.
