Why not try some of the tasty treats the Riverview Cafe has to offer?

Next time you’re looking for somewhere nice to tuck into a tasty treat, why not give the Riverview Cafe a try?

Situated in Hills Department Store on Broad Street, Spalding, the cafe looks out over the River Welland offering a lovely view.

Chef Ian Duckworth, who was at the cafe from 2007 to 2011, has returned as chef and head of catering after running his own successful coffee shop, The Maple Leaf, until the end of September this year.

Ian is looking forward to the challenge of building the Riverview Cafe up as market leader in Spalding and making it the place to go for freshly cooked breakfast, tea, coffee and cakes and delicious lunches and snacks.

Ian has plenty of experience when it comes to catering – during 22 years in the Air Force he cooked for royalty, including the Queen, politicians, heads of state and celebrities including Sir David Jason and Dame Judi Dench.

Ian and his team use locally sourced produce utilising the very best of Lincolnshire fayre and offer a vast array of home produced products, created on the premises with an emphasis on freshly prepared tasty dishes.

Local suppliers include:

  • Steaks, sausages and pork from Geo Adams butchers
  • Finest Lavazza coffee from Mandy’s Coffee & Vending at Swineshead
  • Excellent products from South Lincs Frozen Foods

A restaurant refurbishment of the Riverview Cafe is being planned for early 2015.

Ian said: “We are looking forward to exciting times in the Riverview with a new menu, more choice, freshly cooked daily specials, a new a la carte menu, and an enticing array of traybakes, scones and cakes.

“Our aim is to excite our customers and keep them interested.”

Coffee lovers will be delighted to hear the cafe has changed to a gorgeous premium Lavazza coffee as well as introducing a new Belgian decadent hot chocolate indulgence drink.

Ian plans to offer plenty of deals to entice diners in to the cafe including two main meals for £10 every Wednesday between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

There will also be morning and afternoon coffee and cake specials.

The cafe, which is licensed if you fancy a glass of wine or a beer with your meal, is open from 9am to 4.45pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4.15pm on Saturdays.
