Trial begins for Spalding man accused of child sex offences

A Spalding man has gone on trial at Crown Court accused of child sex offences.

Shaun Denmead, 44, of Thames Road, Spalding, denies 15 charges.

A jury of eight women and four men were sworn in at Lincoln Crown Court to try the allegations faced by Mr Denmead.

The jury heard Mr Denmead has pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual assault on a child aged under-13.

Mr Denmead also denies nine charges of sexual activity with a child.

The trial judge, Judge Catarina Sjolin-Knight asked the jury to keep an open mind throughout the case.

“Observe what the witnesses say, not just listen to them,” Judge Sjolin-Knight advised the jury.

The trial is expected to last four days.
