Tree blown down into busy road

Motorists had a lucky escape when high winds sent a large tree sprawling across Spalding Road in Pinchbeck on Saturday morning.

It was reported to Lincolnshire County Council by police at 9.50am and an emergency response crew was sent out within an hour.

Meanwhile, the planned removal of two old poplars which had shed branches into the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field had to be abandoned due to Sunday’s high winds.
The work in Winfrey Avenue will now take place on consecutive Sundays, January 18 and 25, under a road closure.
