Tommy Treacher scored on his Long Sutton Athletic debut as Matt Cawthorn enjoyed a dream start to his stint as player/boss on Saturday.
Signed from Holbeach United at the end of last week, the former UCL Premier Division winning striker notched the third goal in a 4-0 win over Netherton Reserves at London Road.
Man-of-the-match Josh Lawrence opened the scoring with a tidy 10-yard finish on 30 minutes, before Treacher teed-up his manager Cawthorn to bury the second.
The roles were then reversed as Cawthorn crossed for Treacher to make it 3-0, before sub Ryan Brothwell rounded off the scoring
A chuffed Cawthorn said: “Personally I was nervous – even though I’ve been doing it all season. But this time was just me. We started very brightly, but made few nervous mistakes which, against better opposition, have cost us.
“It was a very good all-round team performance, the lads gave 100 per cent effort, which as a manager I can’t ask for any more.
“I’m very pleased with the start, but I can’t get carried away. We have a local derby Saturday away at Spalding United Reserves to focus on now.”
