TRAVEL COLUMN: Special family deals on skiing and snowboarding

Suzy Bulmer, of Spalding Travel, shares her top tips on what’s hot on the holiday front in 2015.
This week it’s skiing and snowboarding deals for families and early bookers.

Ski and snowboard operators are announcing special deals for early bookers and families.

Some of the operators are operating three and four night weekends as well as the usual seven nights in Europe. Other incentives include a selection of family and child discounts, an early booking discount, low deposit of £50 with some operators, free Wi-Fi in most hotels, free lift passes at selected hotels and 20kg of luggage on charter flights.

There is such a vast selection of choices when skiing, you can opt for a self catering apartment, a hotel offering bed & breakfast or half /full board or perhaps a chalet.

With the latter which appeals to couples and families alike, this is an easy option as you do not have to worry about meals whatsoever, after skiing back to your chalet you will be greeted with a log fire and tea and baked cakes, after the long awaited hot bath your dinner will be served!.

Chalets cater from 6/8 to as many as 50 people, some of the larger ones even have their own bar so you don’t have to venture away from your chalet other than to ski during the day should you wish.

Childcare in chalets is so well catered for by many of the operators. A lot of the family orientated suppliers offer a pick up and drop off at the children’s clubs in France, they will be with a qualified nanny who will, after a day’s playing drop them back at the chalet in time for an early tea, alternatively some operators offer private child care for those looking for this.

Some of the operators offer group rates from as little as 7 adults, it’s never been easier to get family and friends together for a memorable winter holiday!

From beginner to expert, all of our suppliers offer every angle of ski ability.

The different countries, France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria all offer different levels to suit all abilities, certainly in the USA and Canada where you will find the most exhilarating ski opportunities, as long as you have the correct clothing to keep out the very cold temperatures, again these offer skiing for all abilities, although it should be noted that perhaps a few European holidays would allow you to enjoy the full mountain terrain that provides challenges to both the beginner as well as the expert.

The wilderness and near deserted slopes set state side skiing apart. Families can give snow tubing a spin too!

Skiing is such fun! If you would like a quote or more information please call your local experts who will be delighted to guide you through all the suppliers we use to find your perfect ski holiday!
