Town will still remember fallen

There won’t be a remembrance parade in Holbeach this year but the parish council is still looking to organise services.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions authorities such as Lincolnshire County Council will not be closing roads for parades this year.
So the Royal British Legion is urging local authorities to take on any services which was brought before a meeting of the parish council by Coun John Spencer.
The meeting heard that services are hoping to be held on Remembrance Sunday, November 8 and Remembrance Day itself, Wednesday, November 11, at times yet to be set.
It won’t involve the usual parade, but it’s hoped wreaths will be safely laid to mark those fallen in conflicts.
Martin Rickard, of the Holbeach branch of the Royal British Legion, said: “We’ll work with the parish council this year. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the county council will not be able to close roads, so we’re going to have to dispense with the parade, but we’ll still be marking it with a memorial.”
