Town finally down after heavy Old Northamptonians defeat

Spalding RFC’s expected relegation from Midlands One East was confirmed on Saturday as they lost 43-5 at home to promotion-chasing Old Northamptonians.

The Memorial Field defeat is Town’s 22nd from as many matches this season and leaves them 28 points shy of safety with just four matches left to play.

With four matches given for a win, Town can no longer rack up enough bonus points to perform the minor miracle that was necessary to avoid the drop.

See www.spaldingvoice.co.uk for a report early next week.
