More exhibits and a higher attendance made this year’s Holbeach Town and Country Fayre bigger and better.
Crowds flocked to King’s Field just off Fen Road over the weekend and discovered assorted trade stands, charity stalls and exhibits, together with various stands manned by the armed services and the main civilian emergency services plus assorted youth and school organisations.
The vehicle sections and static display entries attracted many enthusiasts from near and far.
On Saturday night the central marquee played host to the famous Fayre Bingo along with entertainer and musician Tony G, who played to a packed audience.
Sunday saw the return of the world-famous cabbage hurling and onion wanging events with The Derby Hurlers winning the cabbage event and the Death Strike juniors from Holbeach winning the onion event.
Revived for this year was the Tractor Wurlding, which was updated from a similar event from many years ago where tractors went against human pulling power. The event attracted ten teams and was won by the Holbeach team.
Chairman Andrew French said he was pleased with the outcome and praised committee members for their hard work.
He thanked the business and farming communities who supported the event and those who attended.
Donations to local charities will take place later in the year.
