Town board to plan for 2026

The Spalding Town Board has held its first meeting of 2025, but it remains waiting on the funds it’s been set up to spend.

It’s been set up as part of the £20m over ten years ‘Levelling Up’ initiative for what was branded ‘left behind towns’.
It’s now going to begin in 2026.
Robin Hancox, chair of Spalding Town Board said: “This year, the board’s priority is developing a meaningful and strong plan for our town which will allow us to maximise the funding and target it where it can make an impact.
“With clarity from government about the new timescales, and with significant work carried out by the board in 2024, we are in an excellent position to move forward with refining this important plan for the town.
“The £20m funding represents a huge opportunity for Spalding, and the board will work diligently to ensure that it is invested well in our town.
“We want to see our town thrive, now and long into the future.”
Coun Nick Worth, leader of South Holland District Council, said: “I know we are all keen for this significant project for Spalding town centre to get started, and whilst we await the funding it is important for the town board to do all it can to plan for its arrival, so we can hit the road running in 2026.”
