Top two teams face off in a Division One crunch match

It was a battle of the top two in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night with leaders Pyramid C facing off against second placed Pyramid F.

It was the F team who walked away 5-1 winners, closing the gap at the top to just five points.

Ian Gibson (r7) won the first frame for the F team, edging Spencer Dawkins (o63) out by just two points.

George Neary-Phillips (o21) evened the scores, winning for the C team, before the F team hit back with wins from Pete Hodgson-Kerry (o21), Ian Clare (scr) and Mark Gray (o98).

Consti H moved up two places to third with a 6-0 win over Services C.

Seb Grimston (o28) got Consti off to a good start with a win over Craig Fitter (o63).

Grimston knocked in a 49 break on his way to victory.

Adam Mayman (o28) then beat Geoff Hemsil (r21) to put Consti 2-0 up.

The third frame was conceded by Services, before Jon Houldershaw (r14) and Doug Garfoot (o28) took the final two to finish off the match.

Boundary A remain in fourth having beaten Consti G 5-1.

Pete King (scr), Daniel Smith (o35), Elliott Cox (r7) and Steve Smith (r21) got the wins for Boundary, with Ady Sibley (o35) getting the single point for Consti.

Pyramid D have dropped two places to fifth, after their match against Holbeach C was postponed.
Services A move up one place to sixth.

They beat Gosberton A 4-2 thanks to wins from Martin Spencer (o28), Chris Dunmore (o42) and Vince Fitter (o42).

Donington C and Services D have swapped places after Donington beat Services 4-2.

Donington won the first three frames and the match courtesy of Mick Pearl (o14), Neil Reynolds (o56) and Lee Hempsall (o14).

Neil Favell (o21) and Mat Turner (o28) took the final two frames for Donington.

Consti E moved up a place to 11th after getting a 4-2 win over eighth placed Holbeach D.

Winners for Consti were Simon Law (scr), Gavin Halgarth (scr) and Martin Ulyatt (o14).

There’s no movement in Division Two, except at the foot of the table where Whittlesey C moved above Donington A, who didn’t have a match.

Division leaders Holbeach B are four points clear at the top with a game in hand.

They beat Services B 4-2 thanks to wins from Garry Cooke (o21), Barry Haynes (o21) and Pete Mullane (o21).

Services’ Jason Rose (o28) got a 58 break in his win over Charlie Mullane (r28).

Pyramid A remain in second following a 5-1 victory away to Consti F.

Winners for Pyramid were Victor Rouse (r7), Mick Twell (o7), Norman Vaughan (o21) and John Twell (o7).
Martyn Stanley (r14) got the solitary point for Consti.

Third placed Holbeach E beat Gosberton D 4-2.
Whittlesey C moved off the bottom of the table with a 5-1 win over Holbeach A.

Neil Burton (scr), Jason Bloomfield (o21) twice and Simon Parker (o7) were the winners for Whittlesey.

Tenth placed Whittlesey A got the better of Holbeach F with a 4-2 win.

Steve Jennings (o28) beat David Lefley (r28) to get Whittlesey off to a good start, before team mate Andy Blythe (o14) put them 2-0 to the good.

James Quinton (o14) and Susan Lefley (r28) took the next two frames respectively to equal the scoreline, but

Jason Clarke (scr) got the better of Alex Bourne (o21) in the decider to give Whittlesey the win.

Pyramid E took on friendly for Pyramid B with the E team coming out 4-2 winners.

Down in Division Three, Holbeach G are still holding on to first place.

They beat Whittlesey B 4-2, although with two black ball games the result could easily have gone the other way.

Winners for Holbeach were Stu Sullivan (o28), Matt Tomblin (o7) and Ben Harding (o42).

Boundary B didn’t have a match, meaning they drop to fourth and Gosberton B, who won 4-2 at home to Consti D, have taken second place.

Martin Perkins (o28) won the first frame for Consti, but Warren Driver (r14) soon equalled the scoreline.

Mark Howlett (o7) put Gosberton ahead before Merv Pattinson (r21) made it 3-1 giving them the win.
Tom Digby (r7) won the final frame for Consti.

Consti A remain in third place, despite a 4-2 loss to Donington B.

Consti started off well, winning the first two frames thanks to Wayne Wilding (o14) and Louis Steadman (r14), however Donington hit back, taking the final three frames courtesy of Jim Thompson (scr), Mick Clark (r21) and Darren Templeman (scr).

Donington D have dropped to the foot of the table after losing 4-2 away at Consti C.

Terry George (r14), Steve Crane (r7) and Kevin Sweeney (r7) got the wins for Consti.

Consti J moved up a place to 12th after beating club mates Consti I 4-2, while Gosberton C climbed to eighth after winning 4-2 away to Consti B.
